SpaceTime: 3D Browser Eye Candy

June 6, 2007 · No Comments

spacetime.jpgNew York based SpaceTime has released SpaceTime 3D, a web browser that literally takes tagged browsing 3D.

SpaceTime allows users to map out their browsing progress in a visual timeline, treating each site as an object that can be manipulated and rearranged within the 3D environment. Users can alternate between a 3D and 2D perspective as required.

SpaceTime’s search functionality loads multiple search results as a stack of separate pages, simultaneously loading 10 results at a time, each in its own window. Users can the flip through results, re-arrange the pages or manipulate them. SpaceTime search currently supports Google, Google Images, Yahoo!, Yahoo! Images, Flickr, eBay and others.

It’s difficult to describe the user experience. It’s pure eye candy, sort of like Second Life meets Firefox. As a standalone browser SpaceTime 3D lacks most of the extras you’d expect from a browser. There’s no bookmark support, there’s really nothing aside from the 3D rendering and search. I can’t see people abandoning their traditional browsers to embrace this; however the barrier to success comes not from millions of users, but from enough users to see a return through direct deals with Google and others through search affiliation fees, the same model used for Flock and Firefox.

Isn’t it cool!! F7 will break this record

June 5, 2007 · No Comments

The Fedora 7 was released on the May 31st at FUDCon 2007 in Linux Tag at Berlin, Germany. The next two days have made their servers red hot but the biggest part of it is that the servers din’t crash. Bcoz server crash means Red Hat loses a lot of money. Anyways the first 20 hrs. witnessed more than 18000 torrent downloads!! Also Kushal da went there to take an active part in the events going on there. He got some really cool interviews and also loads and loads of photos :) . Well i have managed to get only around a GB of the DVD iso owing to slow connection speeds…Hoping to get the rest soon and oh! the xams are also going on around this time :(

The Hardware Profiler

June 3, 2007 · No Comments

The Smolt project under fedora is offering a cool method of publishing detailed hardware profiles on the internet. It has come up with interesting stats of machines running on FC6 and up…

I posted mine over here.

This will also help to keep track of the different systems running Fedora smoothly and desires support on long run. This is bcoz Fedora comes with all compatible device drivers as a complete package!!

So just type “yum install smolt” followed by “smoltSendProfile” and get your UUID. So simple as that :)
